A small seed of
what is to become
Thanks for having a kōrero with us to learn how we can all work together to nurture the future within and keep pregnancy alcohol-free.
Now that you have that small seed of knowledge, you also have this small seed to plant!
Kamokamo
Curcubita pepo
Kamokamo is a type of squash that is closely related to marrows, courgettes, and gourds. Introduced to Aotearoa in the late 19th Century by Pākehā settlers, it’s a tāonga crop and Māori have long been its custodians.
Once introduced, kamokamo quickly became a staple of Māori gardens and diet. Māori also used the hollowed and dried outer layer to store other foods.
